Q

Why did labour win the election

A

People thought Churchills status as war leader was enough to make Conservatives win.
Each party published manifesto saying what they would do if elected. Conservatives did not say how or when would happen. Labour said they would start immediately.
Labour seemed more forward looking and promising (conservatives wanted to keep things as they were)
Labour had increasing support from polls
Socialism not seen as threatening as 1920s
Many people blamed Conservatives for deprivation and unemployment in 1930s
Labour seemed to stand for giving access to any opportunity no matter what background
Popularity improved
