What was the inquisition? Name 2 places they went.
The inquisition was a church court set up to try people who had views that were different to the teachings of the catholic church.
What was the Papal Bull?
In 1520 Pope Leo X wrote the papal bull. It gave Luther 60 days to recant his teachings.
What were the 95 theses?
The 95 theses were a list of arguments about the sale of indulgences. Martin Luther sent these to Albrecht of Brandenburg hoping that he would act against it. Luther was said to have pinned these to the door of the castle church in wittenburg.
What does recant mean?
Recant means to take back. In 1520 Pope Leo X wrote a papal bull giving Luther 60 days to recant his teachings.
What was justification by faith alone?
Luther believed that a person was saved by faith alone. This wars called Justification by faith alone.
What was predestination?
John Calvin believed that God had chosen whether somebody was going to heaven before they were born. This was called predestination.
What does reformation mean?
Reformation was the period of religious change.
Explain 2 consequences of the reformation and where they went.
War and Persecution.
Wars broke out. Some between countries and some within countries.
People were not allowed to learn the teachings of the religion they wanted. This was called Persecution
