A movement to change, or to “reform” the Roman Catholic Church
Martin Luther
A German monk who wanted to fix problems in the Catholic Church and wrote the 95 Theses’ beginning the Protestant Reformation.
Johannes Gutenberg
invented the printing press in 1450.
Protestant
any Christian that protested against the RCC
Henry VIII
A king of England who broke away from the Catholic Church so he could get a divorce and started the Church of England.
Queen Elizabeth
A strong and smart queen of England who helped her country become powerful during the 1500s.
English Bill of Rights
A legal document that reduced the king or queen’s power and gave more power to the people and Parliament. It helped protect people’s rights and made sure the ruler had to follow the law too.
