The Rest Flashcards
(4 cards)
Central pattern generator
A network of neurons that can generate sequences of movement without the need of proprioceptive feedback from sense organs
Commissural interneurons
Naurons that have axons which cross the nerve cord from one side to the other. They are excited in time with motor neurons on the same side of their cell bodies and dendrites and they inhibit neurons of the opposite side
Reciprocal inhibition
Pattern of connections of which two neurons inhibit each other.
Rebound spike
A spike that is triggered at the end of (inhibitory postsynaptic potential) IPSP rather than by an excitatory postsynaptic potential EPSP, in which the neuron rebound from inhibition and its membrane potential overshoot its resting level, triggering an active membrane response - a spike
