What did the Nazis stand for
Abolish treaty of Versailles. Re-arm Germany. Destroy communism. Hebensraum - rule German emperor. Greater Germany - unite all German-speaking people. Remove Jews. Strong central government. Destroy Weimar Republic.
Why were the Nazis popular - CITIZENS
War guilt cause.
Unfair terms.
Humiliation + war reparation.
Germans not happy - blamed for WW1.
Why were the Nazis popular - ARMY
Win over army.
Didn’t believe they were defeated.
Government “stabbed Germany in the back”.

Males - 14-18, younger boys - 10-14.
Girls section.
100,000 - 8million.
Why was Hitler Youth (1922-1945) set up
To encourage loyalty of young people to the Nazis’ (brainwash kids).

Hitlers Henchmen + thugs.
Many were ex-soldiers.
They interrupted Communist meetings.
The SS
Hitlers body guards.
Became No.1 violent wing of the Nazis in 1934.

In October 1929, the US stock market crashed and a global recession began.
