Q

What is focus mode vs diffuse mode?

A

Focus mode = intense study sessions where your focus is only on learning e.g like a laser pointer

Q

How does sleep help with learning?

A
  1. When we sleep the brain clears out toxins produced during the day.
  2. Myelin sheaths are formed which help protect the connections between neurons = better memory

Q

How do we commit short term memory to long term memory?

A
  1. Through space repetition e.g. recalling information over a period of time e.g. daily for 1 week
  2. Connect new concepts to things we already learnt e.g. Feynman sounds like Fei man (fat man) which needs to be broken down into smaller pieces for easier consumption

Q

What is the Overjustification effect in psychology?

A

It’s when extrinsic incentives (e.g. money) is given, it actually reduces the person’s intrinsic motivations.

It’s why when you’re passionate about something, and you turn that into a job, people tend to lose their passion for it.
