in 2005, as Tony Blair wanted to guarantee independence of the UK judiciary

what are the roles of the Supreme Court?
A
judicial review: they review other branches of government that breach the law
interpretation: they interpret statute laws that aren’t clear
determine human rights: doing a judicial review to ensure that human rights are being followed

what is an ultra vires
A
when the government/ governing body exceeds their powers by taking action without legal authority (e.g when Boris prorogued Parliament)
