What are key factors when taking into account length of tender periods?

A

the complexity of the project
the size of the project
time of year (e.g. Christmas period)
market conditions

Typicall what nr tenderers would you normally expect?

A

Each project or contract needs to be considered in context, but generally 3 – 6 tenders should be sufficient. For a design and build scheme no more than 4 tenderers should be selected.

A

Invitation to tender (ITT) Inc a cover letter with tender return info
Form of tender
Contract conditions and employers amendments
Instructions to bidders inc how errors will be dealt with
Tender scoring matrix
Project Information e.g. design info, specs, surveys, planning conditions etc
Pricing doc
PCI (Pre construction information)
Quality questions e.g. relevant experience and methodology
Receipt of tender

What is a bona fide tender

A

A bid submitted in good faith, complete and in the correct format that meets the conditions of the bidding requirements

It was 10 weeks, I would advise that 12 weeks was reasonable but due to programme constraints, 10 weeks was set out

A

Important that the master query list with all tenderers queries and answers to those queries is distributed to all tenderers, to negate any unfair advantage a tenderer might have
