They ranked schools in order of percentage of pupils achieving 5 grade C’s or above at GCSE’s, incuding maths and english. It helped parents have infomed choice, helped raise standards and increase competition.

OFSTED measures how schools preform and gives a detailed report on all areas of the school. Schools are graded 1-4 from inadequate to outstanding. Helps raise standards, competition and informed choices.

Funding of the school is based on how many pupils are enroled there. This encourages schools to raise standards. Said to reduce class ineqalities as school want to attract as many pupils possible.
A03 = Negative impact on poor preforming schools which could disadvanatage those studying there.

Parents can send their children to and school, not just the nearest one. Creates parentocracy and encourages competition, raising of standards and choice. WC pupils can also go to schools in more MC areas.
A03 = Cream skimming and silt shifting. Also myth of meritocracy as WC parents can afford transport to futher away schools.
