What are the aims of the EU?
Happy, richer safer
When was the EU founded and what was it for originally?
It was founded in 1957.
Used as a coal and steel community.
Why was the EU this type of community?
It made war unlikely.

One judge from each country that’s a member of the EU.
It upholds EU law and checks up on countries.

The UK joined in 1973 and voted to leave in 2016 (Brexit).

Send people of a certain job to train other from developing countries who are in need of training. e.g. judges, polices etc.

Gives the UK a voice on a global stage.

Must sustain an army.

Promote free trade and sets rules on how countries trade.

Make trade easy between nations.

Promotes free trade.

What are some effects of leaving the EU?
Migration - no free movement.
Travel - need visas for more than 90 days and holiday rules.
Trade - no tariffs, but very strict paperwork
Fishing - UK boats now get greater share of catch in UK waters.
What are some PROS of being in the EU?
ECHR provides oversight of gov’ and ensures rights.
Import duty so companies benefit as more competitive and attracts firms which creates jobs.
Free movement to any other country in the EU.
Shared security intelligence.
EU funds investments.
