Q

How can manipulation be linked to both lady Macbeth an Macbeth?

A

Most readers would interpret lady Macbeth as being the manipulating power in their relationship; encouraging Macbeth to kill the king by using accusatory language.

In contrast, Macbeth could be the manipulating one as in his letter to Lady m, he is tempting his “partner in greatness” to persuade him into killing the king. This is because he is aware he has “no spur only vaulting ambition” and could be referring to Lady m as that spur he needs in order to achieve greatness.
