Where do the Israelites arrive after the trials in the desert? What is the significance of this location?
Mount sinai. The holy mountain and where God called Moses by name
What is the promise that God makes to the Israelites? (Ex 19:5) What is the purpose of this promise?
If you keep my covenant I will be your God and you will be my people. The purpose is to bring them closer to God
What kind of nation does God want Israel to come?
A nation of priests/ a holy nation
What are the 3 parties involved in the Mosaic covenant?
God, Moses, and nation
What is the symbol of this Covenant?

What are the types or categories of commandments?
First 3 are for your loving your God and the last 7 are for loving your neighbor
Why don’t we include the detail about “graven images” in the first commandment?
Because of what we know about idols and some graven images are good
Why is the commandment against coveting your neighbors spouse and goods divided into 2 commandments?
People are not objects
Why does God say that he is a jealous God?
He wants us to follow and trust him and nobody else
What does it mean to say that “ I will visit inequity to the 3rd and 4th generation of those who hate me but mercy to the thousands to those who love me?
God’s mercy is greater than his punishment

Giving them the opportunity to trust God

How has the covenant with Moses changed since the covenant with Abraham?
Moses is not with one person or bloodline but with the whole nation
what does the word tabernacle mean and what does this tell us about God?
It means Dwelling place. It tells us that God wants to dwell with his people

Bread symbolizes manna and it reminds Israel God will always provide
