PERSONALITIES

A
  • ID = from birth, focuses on pleasure (e.g. skipping school), can become selfish
  • EGO = develops in childhood around 3, awareness of reality and balance(e.g. balancing unhealthy meal with workout), pose impact, strong ego then id be dominant, weak ego, personality dominant
  • SUPEREGO = influenced by parents(e.g. following rules) can become over controlling, and lead to anxiety

psychosexual stages

A
  • Oral = baby seeking energy focused on mouth = can lead to neg fixations = child can become addicted (e.g. smoking)
  • Anal = pleasure from defecating, takes pleasure in releasing bowels (grow up to be messy) (parents strict on potty training, chid can be controlling)
  • Phallic = desire to focus on genitals as pleasure, become aware of bodies, unresolved = sexual dysfunction, can lead to sex addiction.
  • Latency = sexual impulses, focus on shifts and education, can have difficulty expressing emotions.
  • Genital = libido re-emerges, start becoming sexually aware, fixation at oral stage may gain sexual pleasure
