Q

Which 2D CAD command(s) can be used to complete this view effectively?

A

The copy tool can be used to create a replica of a certain part of a drawing so the user does not have to remake it.

Q

Which tool(s) are used to provide these edge types to the graphic?

A

The fillet tool, which puts a radius on a corner, and the chamfer tool, which puts a 45 degree angle on a corner, have been used.

Q

Which tool(s) have been used to create these effects on the graphics?

A

The Trim/Break tool removes any unwanted section of a line, and the Extend tool makes a line longer (usually to meet another object).

16
Q

Which 2D CAD tool has been used to alter the view in this way?

A

The pan tool can be used to ‘pan’ around the screen to allow the user to see other parts of the drawing hidden from the visible screen.

17
Q

Which CAD constrain type has been used to constrain these two parts in this way?

A

A Centre axis constrain has been used.

This lines up the round surfaces, and it is very useful when inserting a round extrusion into a round hole.

18
Q

Which CAD constrain type has been used to constrain these two parts in this way?

A

The Mate constrain type has been used.

This makes faces touch each other, this is good when you want two flat surfaces to touch each other.

19
Q

Which CAD constrain type has been used to constrain these two parts in this way?

A

The align constrain type has been used.

This is useful when you want two objects on the same plane as the other, so they align.

20
Q

Which CAD constrain type has been used to constrain these two parts in this way?

A

The offset constraint has been used.

This is useful when you want two object to be offsetted at a set distance away from each other.

21
Q

Which CAD Command has been used to add this third dimension to this CAD drawing?

Bonus: State another feature of this tool that can be used to remove volume from an object.

A

The extrude (join) tool has been used to add the third dimension to the sketch by a set distance.

Bonus: The extrude (cut) tool, in turn, would remove the distance set from another part of any 3D graphic which comes in contact with it.

22
Q

Which CAD Command has been used to add this third dimension to this CAD drawing?

Bonus: State another feature of this tool that can be used to remove volume from an object.

A

The revolve (join) tool has been used to select a 2D sketch (profile) and revolve it to the set rotation (extents) given, e.g. 360 degrees, around the selected axis.

The revolve (cut) tool can be used to remove the revolved volume wherever it comes in contact with another 3D CAD model.

23
Q

Which CAD command can be used to effectively create this edit to a standard cube?

A

The shell tool has been used to allow you to hollow out any shape to a set wall thickness.

24
Q

Name as many advantages of using CAD over conventional manual techniques as you can.

A

CAD tools such as the ‘copy’ tool save a lot of time and provide consistently accurate drawings.

CAD files can be sent instantly across the web to designers across the world.

Both large and small modifications of a CAD drawing, such as modifying scale, can be done instantly without the need for a restart.

Digital storage, especially through the cloud, keeps designs safe from any physical calamities.

25
Q

What is an ‘input’ device? Name as many ‘input’ devices as you can.

A

Input devices are devices where a user sends in data that is used in a computer system to be interpreted and then sent out by an output device.

Some input devices are keyboards, scanners, graphics tablets, digital cameras, mouses, joysticks, and tracker balls.

26
Q

What is an ‘output’ device? Name as many ‘output’ devices as you can.

A

An output device is one that displays a user’s input.

Some output devices are speakers, monitors, laser printers, inkjet printers, drum plotters.
