Thermal physics and gas laws Flashcards

1
Q
what is an isothermal change
A
Temperature of a system remains constant since any heat added to the system is used to do work done .
So either the heating increases temp of everything around the system - eg sweating keeping skin constant temp
or
Heating a balloon, expanding the volume but not pressure
2
Q
what is Brownian motion
A
the random movement of particles suspended in a fluid/gaseous medium, caused by collisions with the rapidly moving molecules of the fluid/ gaseous medium .
