Linear Narrative Structure =
A
- Follows a linear narrative with montage sequences of 1980’s
- Shaun begins to find friends, an identity and then a new cause, the turning point for his character is when Milky is almost beaten to death and then a rejection of the NF

- Shaun begins the narrative isolated and alone which mirrors the ending where he is once again isolated

- Foregrounds the narrative and the roles of key characters
- Contrasting characters and ideas
- Woody is a positive male role model compared to Combo who is negative through his violence, racism and far-right nationalism

Shaun’s Point of View =

- Shown from Shaun’s life understanding his emotions so we are able to sympathise with him being indoctrinated under Combo
- Becomes a way of exploring broader issues in 1980’s such as racism, poverty and masculinity
