What are the epaxial groups of the axial muscles?
Intrinsic back muscles (superficial, intermediate, deep)
What are the hypaxial groups of the axial muscles?
3 groups, lateral, anterior and prevertebral groups.
What are the axial muscles defined as?
Head, neck and torso.
What do the axial muscles assist in?
respiration.
What are the functions of the axial muscles?
Abdominal wall (keeping the viscera in)

Neck and lower back anterior, attached to the spine.

rectus groups, abs anterior to the trunk.
