What is the superior thoracic aperture?
A
Opening at the top of thorax

Where do the lungs sit in respect to the thorax?
A
Extend from diaphragm and the apex’s come into the neck 1 inch above the medial third of the clavicle (point upwards)

How many lobe(s) are present in each lung and why?
A
Right Lung 3 Lobes
Left Lung 2 Lobes
Left lung only has 2 because less space present due to hearts positioning

What is a pleura?
A
A pleura is a serous membrane lining the thorax as well as enveloping/surrounding the lungs

What are parietal and visceral pleura?
A
Parietal pleura lines the whole of the thoracic cavity
Visceral pleura lines the outer surface of the lung
