It means to get your own back. It means that the criminal should receive the same injuries and damage that they caused to their victim.

A

To be punished severely enough so as the punishment acts as a deterrent to others and the offender. This is to make sure that they don’t not repeat the crime.

What is the meaning of reformation

A

It is the most preferred punishment as it seeks to help the offender by working with them so the offender realises what they have done. The offender must realise he is in the wrong for this to work. Showing compassion
