Approach speed techniques
Decelerated Approach :
Conf 1/s”speed at FDP
Early Stabalized Approach :
Aircraft reaches FDP fully configured. Use this speed management for non-precision
If using manual thrust, A/THR must be disconnected by :
1000 FT AAL
Cat 3 single means?
Systems are fail passive, meaning a single failure will lead to an auto pilot disconnection. Manual flight is then required. Minimum decision height is 50ft.
Cat 3 dual means?
Systems are fail-operational. If a single item fails, AP will continue the aircraft on the flight path and operate as fail passive. This redundancy allows cat 3 ops with or without DH
Flight preperation for cat 2 or 3?
- destination airport has to be cat 2 or 3 certified
-aircraft must meet equipment requirements
-crew must be qualified
-extra fuel for possible delay in approach
-consider weather alternate
To avoid thermal shock with engines post start?
Ensure operation at idle for at least 2 minutes.
Max taxi speed in straight line?
30 knots
