Tips to Remember for Midterm/Final Flashcards

Q

How is molarity affected when you add two substances together?

A

Molarity will decrease, so you must calculate moles of each substance first, then divide by the total volume of both substances

Ex: if you added 10 mL of 0.1 M A with 10 mL of 0.1 M B, then you’d have to calculate moles of A & B (0.01*0.1), then divide the answer (0.001) by 0.02 L to get 0.05 molarity for both

Q

What can you do with n?
n = moles

A

Turn it into m/M
m = mass
M = molar mass

Q

What can you do with P?
P = pressure

A

Turn it into F/A
F = force
A = area
Force can also be thought of as mg (massgravity)
