Tissue Fluid & Lymph Flashcards
(9 cards)
Tissue Fluid
The site of diffusion between blood and body cells, providing cells with nutrients and oxygen while removing waste products and is found in spaces between cells
Tissue Fluid vs Plasma
Tissue fluid has no red blood cells.
Tissue fluid has fewer proteins.
Tissue fluid has fewer white blood cells
Tissue Fluid Formation
Tissue fluid is formed from the blood flowing through capillaries
Oncotic Pressure
The force exerted by proteins in the blood that draws water into blood vessels
Osmotic Pressure
The force that drives the movement of water molecules from a region of high to low water potential
Hydrostatic Pressure
The pressure exerted by a fluid in a confined space
Lymph
Lymph is the fluid that flows around the lymphatic system
Lymph Vs Tissue Fluid
Lymph has less oxygen and nutrients.
Lymph has more fatty acids.
Lymph has more white blood cells (lymphocytes)
