What does an officer do if they recover .50 caliber or larger ammunition for evidence?
Contact ABS to submit as evidence. Do not take to evidence unit.

Yes, if:
- ) The item is not needed in a judicial proceeding, and
- ) There is no known owner or the item has been forfeited, and
- ) the item is for Dept use.

No. Each type of currency is packaged in a separate currency envelope.

Both employees who counted the money.

In it’s own Currency Envelope with “counterfeit” written on the outside.

When will the evidence unit deposit U.S currency submitted as evidence into a bank account?
90 days after submission. Employees may request that the currency is retained by the evidence unit and not placed in a bank.

What money submitted for evidence is not placed into a bank account after 90 days?
- Money that is physical evidence
- Counterfeit money
- Money requiring laboratory examination
- Foregin money (including Canadian)
- Money known or suspected to be bio-hazardous
- Money with collectible or sentimental value
- “Marked” buy money.

The lead investigator or supervisor from the investigating unit.

How is photo or video evidence restricted?
Lead investigator or supervisor contacts photo/video unit to restrict digital evidence.

How do officers handle evidence on physical media (usb)?
Officers will upload the media into evidence.com then sumbit the physical media device, containing the original files, into evidence.

When can officers use BWV or ICV to record statements?
Exigent circumstances when Axon Capture and digitial recorders are not available.

How do officers take digital audio statements?
Officers may use Axon Capture on a dept smartphone or use a digital audio recorder.

What must officers do if they take a recorded statement using BWV or ICV?
- Document why axon capture or digital recorder wasnt used.
- Tag video with related case number.
- Bookmark the time within the video of the statement.

Can officers keep a temporary working copy of photos, video or audio statement on their dept computer?
Yes. Once it is no longer needed, must delete it.

Yes, only in exigent circumstances.
