Flashcards in TKD 9 KUP Deck (32):
1

What is a Pattern?

Set of fundamental movements, mainly defence and attack, set in a logical sequence to deal with imaginary opponents.

2

Why do we perform patterns?

To improve our TKD techniques, develop sparring techniques, improve flexibility, master body shifting, develop muscles, balance and control.

3

Why are there 24 patterns?

The founder, Major General Choi Hong Hi said "Here I leave Tae Kwon-Do for mankind. As a trace of a man of the late 20th Century. The 24 patterns represent 24 hours, one day or all of my life." Leaving a good spiritual legacy.

4

what does Chon-Ji mean?

Chon-Ji means "the Heaven the Earth", meaning the creation of the world or the beginning of human history. The pattern has 2 similar parts; one to represent the Heaven and the other the Earth.
