What is the role of AI
To gather relevant and accurate information at emergency service incidents and deliver it to the appropriate decision makers on the ground in a timely manner

Between 0900-1800 within 120km of Jandakot Airport:
-Any fires within the Zone 2, 2A and Metro Enhanced areas,
-Any 3rd alarm classified TSG fire being controlled by DFES or LG
-Any incident when directed by Metro duty superintendent, AC metro operations or duty assistant commissioner.
When can individuals challenge a task or dispatch?
Violation of regulated safe aviation practices
Weather and environmental conditions make the activity unsafe
There is insufficient information to safely plan or undertake the activity

What must me done at 5 minute inbound?
Arrival message - via 371 or P1

What is the standard circuit for AI?
3500ft AGL
Left-hand circuits
Box circuits on cardinal headings or parallel to fire
Generally 300m from fire perimeter
Generally 60kts Indicated Air Speed
What are common flight hazards?
Air traffic hazards
Low visibility
Radio-tv-mobile masts
Aerials/antennas/wires
Rising ground
Stags
Turbulent winds or up droughts
Airspace restrictions
Extreme fire behaviour
What are AIO Taskings on arrival
Conduct a size up
Determine tasking/information requirements
Provide regular sit reps to ground liason
Identify and provide any red flag warning or safety messages
Record all comms in flight log
Commence other tasks as required/completed
What are ISO tasks on arrival
Plot ILP - upload to fesmaps
Identify and mark the suspected Point of Origin - email to FIAU
Identify /Mark locations of head fire and spot fires
Identify / mark life or assets at risk
Plot the fire perimeter in detail and update as required
Identify fire size - area/perimeter/ros
Upload all relevant maps/markers/poly lines to FESMaps
Record time of upload on flight log
Provide live vision to ground
Other takes as required
What the duties of the GLO
Establish and maintain radio comms with AI
Establish contact with the IMT and provide a sitrep to planning officer
Establish video access for IMT
Act as liason for AI
Provide AI with tasking from IMT
What are the 2 conditions required for hot refuelling?
Life and property are under imminent threat and time restraints require hot refueling
AIO/ISO edit the aircraft and reposition clear of refuelling operations for the duration
What are the low level flying procedures
AIO must be in the front seat
Aerial recon for hazards first
Aircraft to broadcast intentions in FCTAF
Consider SAR call to notify of intentions and completion
AIO/ISO must provide constant lookout below 200fr
Standard parameters are 50ft AGL and 50kts
Don’t blow embers or affect ground crews
Remain clear of smoke
Avoid live stock

What must be done for SIG equipment faults?
During mission - recognise - attempt corrective actions
Record fault - screenshot / video
Post mission - Save ARS footage and quarantine for investigation
Enter into AISR Fault Run Sheet (G drive)
Complete and email SIG fault report to mcdermotts email
Advise AOO-AISR / SOAD / DAO as required
