TNC’s - Transnational Corporation
What are they - Companies that operate in more than one country. They often have factories in LEDCs because there are lots of people needing work and are willing to accept low rates of pay. Making it very cheap for TNC’s to produce goods. Offices and headquarters tend to be in MEDC’s and this is where profits made from selling the products will go, allowing these companies to expand and grow. Unilever, McDonalds & Apple are all examples of TNC’s. When a TNC locates factories within LEDC’s there are advantages and disadvantages
