16
Q

What is the process of tooth decay?

A
  1. Food debris (sugar+ starch) + oral bacteria form a thin layer of plaque
  2. Bacteria change sugar to acid
  3. Enamel dissolved by acid
  4. Bacteria further infect pulp cavity
  5. The nerve endings in the pulp cavity is stimulated
  6. Toothache
17
Q

What is the process of periodontal disease?

A
  1. Build up of plaque over a long period of time
  2. Bacteria release toxins to destroy periodontal fibre
  3. Tooth can’t be held firmly in the jawbone
  4. Tooth become loose and eventually fall out
