What is CNS?
The control centre of the body, and two main structures are the brain and spinal cord.
What is the brain?
Processing centre of our body and its main concern is our survival
What are the three main parts of the brain?
The brain consists of three main sections being the cerebrum, cerebellum, and the brain stem
What is the cerebrum?
Makes up 90 percent of the brains volume and is composed of two wrinkly hemispheres.
What does cerebrum control?
It controls our memory, speech and thought, all of our conscious actions like walking, running and speaking is also controlled by the cerebrum
What are the four main sections and what are they called?
The four main sections are called lobes, frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobe.
What is the cerebellum?
The cerebellum sits towards the back of the brain, underneath the cerebrum, where the skull curves inwards.
What does cerebellum control?
The cerebellum controls balance and coordinates complex muscle actions.
What is the brain stem?
The brain stem, sometimes called the medulla, controls the activities in our body that we don’t think about.
What does the brain stem control?
It controls our unconscious or involuntary thoughts, including breathing, heart rate and digestion.
What does the brain stem connect to?
The brainstem connects directly to the spinal cord
