What is a low angle shot?
A low angle involves the camera pointing up at the subject. It often implies strength/power
What is a high angle shot?
A high angle looks down on the subject. It may create a sense of isolation, inferiority or weakness
What is an overhead/ aerial shot?
Often known as a birds eye view it is taken from above the subject, it provides an overview of the scene
What is an eye-level shot?
This angle places camera at eye level with the subject. It’s an angle that gives a strong connection to the viewer
What is an overhead the shoulder shot?
An over the shoulder angle is often used to show a conversation. It may suggest a sense of intimacy
What is a hip level shot?
A hip level angle is taken from waist height. It can create intensity in fight scenes or provide a child’s perspective
What is a knee level shot?
This angle is taken from around knee height. Its often used to imply superiority
What is a ground level shot?
This angle is taken from ground level. It draws the focus down to activity on the ground
What is a dutch angle shot?
A dutch angle is taken with the camera at an angle. It may make the viewer feel unsettled
