Somerset was in the Tower of London, York wanted to place him on trial but other nobles were not prepared to go along with it.

Increased income of the crown, navy reform. The wool trade was successful with the new customs taxes, and raised funds towards the crown. Retaining Calais was important but was in the hands of men who supported Somerset.

Some refused to accept York’s authority, York tried to be fair and even-handed, but many thought he could not be impartial, treatment of Somerset seen as proof.
