Penis
The male organ used for sexual intercourse and gor passing urine and Semen out of the body
Testes
Organs that produce sperm and the hormones testosterone also called testicles
Sperm duct
A tube that Carrie’s sperm from the tested to the urethra during ejaculation
Sperm cell
The male reproductive cell that carried half the genetic information required to form a new organism
Gamete
A sex cell that contains half the number of chromosomes of a normal body cell
Haploid
A term used to describe cells that contain only one set of chromosomes
Vagina
The muscular tube leading from the outside of the body to the cervix
Cervix
The lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina it contols what enters and leaves the uterus
Uterus
The organ where a fertilised egg implants and grows into a baby during pregnancy also called the womb
Oviduct
The tube that carries an egg from the ovary to the uterus also called the fallopian tube
Ovaries
Organs in the female body that produce egg cells and hormone like estrogen and progesterone
Egg cell (ovum)
The female reproductive cell that carries half the genetic info needed to make a baby
Puberty
The stage of life when a persons body changes and becomes capable of reproduction
Pubic hair
Hair that grows in thé génital area during puberty
Body odour
The smell caused when sweat is broken down by bacteria on the skin
Breasts
Glands on the chest that grow during puberty in females and can produce milk to feed a baby after birth
The menstrual cycle
A monthly process in the female body where the uterus prepares for pregnancy if no egg is fertilised the uterus lining sheds and leaves the body as a period
Period/menstruation
It is the part of the menstrual cycle when blood and the lining of the uterus leave thr body through the vagina
Ovulation
Is when an ovary releases an egg into the oviducte this usually happens about halfway through the menstrual cycle
Hormone
A chemical messenger made by glands in the body it travels in the blood and controls how different parts of our body works
Fertilisation
When a sperm cell joins with an egg cell
Zygote
The first cell formed when a sperm and egg join during fertilisation.
Embryo
An early stage of development in fertilisation when an organism is beginning to form
Sexual intercourse
The process where two individuals join their two productive cells to allow reproduction and fertilisation
