What is Puberty?
When the sex glands become active due to the release of hormones
What are Hormones?
Chemical substances that are released to change a part of the body
What is a Menarche?
A woman’s first period
What is the Menstrual Cycle?
The Cycle of a woman go through her period
What is Sexual Reproduction?
The joining together of a male’s and female’s sex cells
What are Gametes?
Sex cells containing genetic information. The female gamete is ova and the male gamete is sperm
What is Sperm?
The male sex cell. It has a head, middle section consisting of genetic information and a tail used to swim to an egg
What is an Ova?
A female gamete
What is a Zygote?
A cell formed from the fusion of an ova and a sperm
What is External Reproduction?
Where eggs from a female animal are released into the water for nearby sperm to fertilise the egg
What is Internal Reproduction?
Sexual reproduction where the egg remains inside the female
What is Copulation or Sexual Intercourse?
The act of inserting the penis into the vagina
