Overland route extended from western China to the Mediterranean consisting of a series of passages
Chinese silk was an important commodity, and the chinese traded it for horses
merchants didn’t but products travelled all along the road

important set of water routes consisting of 3 legs: eastern Africa to Middle East to SE Asia, one from India to SE Asia, and one from SE Asia to Canton China, dependence on monsoons

A

route connecting people south of the sahara to the mediterranean to the middle east
berbers (nomads who traversed the desert) - most important travel agents
goods carried in caravans, nile river = most imp. destination, cairo became a major trade center linking civilizations together

Sub-Saharan Trade

A

inspired by Bantu migration, and connected people south of the sahara to those in the east and southern parts of africa
connected to indian ocean trade along east coast of africa, which then connected people of sub-Sahara to trade centers in Cairo & India
