To ensure that an employee has the correct skills , qualification and knowledge to carry out their job effectively
Induction training
Given to new employees to familiarise themselves with the business premises, policies and procedures.
On the job
Training that is conducted in the business premises within the premises
Off the job
Training done outside the business premises usually conducted by another business or college
Advantages on the job
Increased productivity-employees may be more productive as they’re receiving training on the business premises
Increased trust-employees may gain more knowledge being trained by someone they know and trust
Better workplace relations-employees get to know the staff they’re going to work with
Disadvantages on the job
Increased distractions-workplace may be noisy
Potential disruptions-training may disrupt working employees
Bad habits may be passed down
