Occurs in water having a depth less than half of the wavelength

Shallow-water Waves
One of the most effective and flexible active control of traffic and is widely used in several cities world wide
Traffic Signals
Is one complete rotation through all of the indications provided
Cycle
Is the time in seconds that it takes a signal to complete one full cycle of indications
Cycle Length
A discrete portion of the signal cycle during which an indicafion remains unchanged
Interval
It is the green indication for a particular movement and is denoted as Gi, the green light of traffic signal
Green Interval
The red indication for a particular movement denoted by Ri, red light of a traffic signal
Red interval
Also called as AMBER TIME indicates the interval between green and red signal
Change Interval
Also called as ALL RED is provided after each yellow interval indicating a period
Used for clearing off the vehicles in the intersection
Clearance Interval
Is a part of a cycle of the green interval plus the change amd clearance intervals that follow it
It allows a set of movements to flow and safely halt the flow before the phase of another set movement start.
Phase
It indicates the time during which the intersection is not effectively utililized for any movement (reaction time)
Lost time
The objective of this is to separate the cinflicting movements in an intersection into various phases, so that movements in a phase should have no conflicts.
Phase design
Traffic signal design methods
Webster Method
Highway Capacity Manual
Used to determine the demand for and the supply of parking facilities in an area, the projection of the demand on how best to solve the problem
Parking Studies
Also known as cirb parking facilities
Parking bays are provided alongside the curb on one or both sides of the street.
On-street parking (facilities)
These facilities may be privately or publicly owned they include surface lots and garages
Off-street paking (facilities)
A unit of parking that defines the use of a single parking space for a period of 1 hour
Space - hour
The total number of vehicles that park in a study area during a specific length of time, usually a day.
Parking volume
The number of parked vehicles that park in a study area at any specified time
Parking accumulation
The area under the accumulation curve between two specific times.
Parking loads
The length of time a vehicle is parked at a parking bay
Parking duration
The rate of use of a parking space.
Parking turnover
Is a detailed listing of the location and alll other relevant characteriestics of each legal parkingvfacitility
Inventory of existing parking facilities
