Linear Skull Fractures

A
  • Most common skull fracture
  • Produces a line that usually extends to the base of the skull
  • Multiple lines is referred to as linear stellate fractures
  • Complications include infection, epidural hematomas if the line crosses a layer of the skull that houses the middle meningeal artery, and the dura tearing at the fracture site
