It’s the tunneling of a missile. Elastic parts of the body tolerate the insult much more than solid organs or bones.

Linear Skull Fractures
A
- Most common skull fracture
- Produces a line that usually extends to the base of the skull
- Multiple lines is referred to as linear stellate fractures
- Complications include infection, epidural hematomas if the line crosses a layer of the skull that houses the middle meningeal artery, and the dura tearing at the fracture site

- Involves the separation of sutures or bone fragments

A
- Occurs when mandibular condyles perforate into the base of the skull but most often result from the extension of fracture of the calvaria
