Trauma- and Stressor-Related Disorders Flashcards
(20 cards)
Trauma- and stressor-related disorders?
Disorders in which exposure to a traumatic or stressful event is listed explicitly as a diagnostic criterion.
Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)
A consistent pattern of inhibited, emotionally withdrawn behavior toward adult caregivers, with minimal seeking of comfort when distressed.
What are the persistent social and emotional disturbances in RAD?
At least two of the following: minimal social and emotional responsiveness, limited positive affect, unexplained irritability, sadness, or fearfulness.
What are the patterns of insufficient care leading to RAD?
At least one of the following: social neglect, repeated changes of primary caregivers, or unhealthy environments for child development.
Onset and duration of RAD?
Disturbance is evident before age 5 years and the child has a developmental age of at least 9 months.
What are the specifiers for RAD?
Specify if persistent (more than 12 months) and current severity (severe if all symptoms manifest at high levels).
Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder (DSED)
A pattern of behavior in which a child actively approaches unfamiliar adults with little or no hesitation.
What are the behaviors associated with DSED?
At least two of the following: inappropriate friendliness with strangers, not checking in with caregivers, and willingness to go with unfamiliar adults.
What are the patterns of insufficient care leading to DSED?
At least one of the following: social neglect, repeated changes of primary caregivers, or unhealthy environments for child development.
What are the specifiers for DSED?
Specify if persistent (more than 12 months) and current severity (severe if all symptoms manifest at high levels).
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)?
Exposure to actual/threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence in specific ways, leading to various symptoms.
What are the intrusion symptoms of PTSD?
One or more of the following: recurrent distressing memories, distressing dreams, dissociative reactions, intense psychological distress, and marked psychological reactions to triggers.
What is the avoidance symptom in PTSD?
Persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the traumatic event, including memories and external reminders.
What are the negative alterations in thoughts and emotions in PTSD?
Two or more of the following: memory gaps, strong negative beliefs, blaming self or others, ongoing negative emotions, loss of interest, feeling distant, and inability to feel positive emotions.
What are the changes in alertness and emotional reactions in PTSD?
Two or more of the following: irritable behavior, reckless/self-destructive behavior, hypervigilance, exaggerated startle response, and problems with concentration.
What are the subtypes of PTSD?
Specify whether with dissociative symptoms (depersonalization or derealization) and with delayed expression (criteria not met until at least 6 months after the event).
What is Acute Stress Disorder?
Exposure to actual/threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence, with symptoms lasting 3 days to 1 month after trauma exposure.
What are the symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder?
Nine or more symptoms from five categories, including intrusion symptoms, negative mood, dissociative symptoms, avoidance symptoms, and arousal symptoms.
What are Adjustment Disorders?
Clinically significant symptoms occurring within 3 months of the onset of stressor(s), causing impairment in functioning.
What are the subtypes of Adjustment Disorders?
Specify whether with depressed mood, anxiety, mixed anxiety and depressed mood, disturbance of conduct, disturbance of emotions and conduct, or unspecified.
