Q

how much did Germany have to pay and why did it make them angrier.

A

136,000 million marks (£6.6 billion)
They were already in debt from WW1 and had more destrction to deal with within the country. They had to find a way to raise this money and they did it by massively increasing taxes. this made ordinary germans very angry as they had done nothing wrong but were the ones who would feel the damage most.

Q

what was the blame part of the treaty about?

A

there was a clause in the treaty that said germany were fully to blame for the war.The Germans were very angry as they never actually declared war. They also believed the blame should not be put entirely on them, it should be shared between them and austria-hungary. Ir was humiliating for ordinary germans as they never did anything bad they just had a bad goverment.

Q

what was the territory part of the treaty about and why did it anger the germans?

A

Germany lost 11 colonies in africa and were all given to the allies.

they were also forced to give up a few other areas in europe

overall they lost 10% pop, 13% european territory, 50% iron, 15% of coal reserves.

this angered germany as one of the main reasons they joined the war was to build a large empire and now there very small one was being taken from them.
