What did Clemenceau want from ToV?
Weaken germany, independent Rhineland, take back Alscace-Lorraine, large reparations for germany, disband german army

France suffered most from war

Justice against germany, sagefuard britains naval supremacy, long term solution, more land for empire, not punish germany too much for trade reasons

Lost lots of soldiers so germany had to be punished, germany posed threat to britains navy, wantd larger empire
What did Wilson want from ToV?
Not punish germany too much - they might want revenge, strengthen democracy in defeated countries, self-determination for countries once in empires, international cooperation

Wanted to prevent any chance of another world war breaking out but had different views because no pressure from american public

went to LoN so France and Britain benefited, land taken away so loss of resources, homes and jobs, industry responsible for damage

How was the Treaty fair?
Germany agreed to pay reparations during armistice 1918, ‘History is written by victor’s’ in most wars losers have to agree to settlements, had to act quickly because geography of europe was chaos
How was the treaty unfair?
Germany shouldn’t have to accept full blame, revenge treaty, worried it would lead to another war, germany hugely hit by reparations and may not have recovered
