Trigonomerty Flashcards
(9 cards)
What is the sine rule?
sinA/a = sinB/b (this one would be for angles)
What is the cosine rule?
a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bc CosA
What is the area of a triangle?
1/2 ab Sinc
What does a sin graph look like?
0 at 0 degrees and then 1 at 90 and then back down to 0 at 180
What does the cos graph look like?
1 at 0 degrees then 0 at 90 and -1 at 180
What does the tan graph look like?
Repeats every 180 degrees, starts with just the top half
What is the first trigonometric identity?
Tan@ = sin@/cos@
What is the second trigonometric identity?
Sin^2@ + cos^2@ = 1
How would you solve a trigonometric equation like sin (x + 65) = 0.7 for 0 < x < 360?
1) find out what sin^-1 is (44.4)
2) then deduct the number inside the bracket (-20.6)
3) if number is not in range add the period (-20.6 + 360 = 339)
4) do the same for the other side of the curve
