A
• Tension increased between the USA + USSR. Truman had publicly announced that the world was divided between two ways of life; the free capitalist and unfree communist.
•The Berlin Crisis
• USA became committed to the policy of containment and more involved in European affairs
•Marshall Plan- motivated by US Self interest
•1947: Cominform (Communist Info Bureau) to link communist parties in Eastern Europe and worldwide
