Q

how does CORE’s journey of reconciliation in 1947 link to morgan v virginia?
- action taken, significance and result

A
  • after morgan v virginia, segregation on interstate buses was illegal but many companies decided to ignore it. CORE wanted to bring attention to this
  • action: 8 black and 8 white activists planned to travel by bus between northern and southern states, they sat in the wrongly designated seats
  • significance: proved companies were ignoring the ruling but resulted in 12 CORE members being arrested. groundbreaking link between legal campaign + protest
  • ultimately failed, southern states such as NC did not desegregate buses
