Low growing plants like mosses, sedges, lichens, grasses and small shrubs, not many trees but trees grow close to the ground so they are insulated by snow and protecting them from the extreme cold.
What fauna is found in the Tundra biome?
Polar bears, artic foxes, mountain goats, reindeer, caribou, snowy owls, various birds.
What is the temperature range in the Tundra biome?
-40 degrees to 18 degrees
What is the precipitation range in the Tundra biome?
15-25cm of precipitation per year, mostly as snow.
What are the light conditions in the Tundra?
Long periods of light in summer - 20 hours a day. 4-6 hours per day in winter.

There is surface ice - like frozen lakes and rivers
Permafrost is a layer of ground that stays frozen all year.
Where in the world does the tundra appear?
