what is a non-infectious disease?
A
- non-communicable, cannot be passed from one person to another.
- they are caused by toxins, radiation, genetic disorders, poor nutrition.
- e.g, diabetes.

what is an infectious disease?
A
- communicable because they are caused by pathogens.
- pathogens are disease-causing agents. many pathogens are microorganisms, however, many are also beneficial to our health.

what is a vector?
A
- another organism that are used by some pathogens to be transmitted into the host.
- different species to the final host

what is virulence?
A
- a measure of the harmfulness of a pathogen.
- a highly virulent pathogen causes lots of damage to the host and spreads quickly within and between hosts.

what is susceptibility?
A
- an indication of how easily the host will contract a particular disease

what are symptoms?
A
- the observable effects of the pathogen on the host organism.
- helps to identify the disease that a person may have, then appropriate treatment can be concluded.
