What is a medium-long shot?

A

Shot that focuses on the main part of the characters. The person in the shot usually takes up to 1-2 thirds of a frame, usually getting cut off at their knees.

A

Shot that shows the upper body of a character, approximately from the waist up. It give characters and their surroundings a similar space on the screen. As neither one dominates, medium shots usually tell viewers to focus equally on characters and their location.

A

To capture dialogue or the intimacy between characters and between the characters and the viewers. It allows you to see the facial expressions on the character and gestures along with their settings and the actions surrounding them.

What is a two-shot?

A

Shot that shows two characters who are not necessarily side-by-side, but are clearly two central characters in a scene.
There may be one character in the foreground and one in the distant background, the depth of field can be adjusted to highlight and draw focus to one element of the image over the other.
