typography Flashcards
(13 cards)
Alignment
the proximity of different design elements.
Centre alingmenet
the design or text is anchored on top of the centre margin, which makes it a good case for headers.
justified alignment
Justified alignment provides a neat and clean look to your text. Not only does it give the right shape but also creates equal margins on both sides.
flush left alignment
it places the text on the left edge with a tight left-hand margin and a soft edge on the right
Flush right alignment
The text in this alignment type is placed hard on the right-hand margin, with the left side being soft and uneven.
Symmetrical Balance
In a design with only two elements they would be almost identical or have nearly the same visual mass
Asymmetrical Balance
Asymmetrical design is typically off-center or created with an odd or mismatched number of disparate elements.
Radial Balance
On square and rectangular pages we generally place elements in orderly rows and columns.
Contrast
Use size, value, color, light and dark and type to create contrast
Proximity
Proximity or closeness creates a bond between people and between elements on a page.
White space
the absence of text and graphics.
Font
specific style of writing that forms part of a typeface family.
Sans-serif
without the serifs, harsher way of writing
