Definition of parliament
Definition: a body that consists of democratically elected members, chosen by the people to federal laws and, the Governor General and King
Definition of constitutional monarch
Definition: recognition of the Crown ( King Charles) as our head of state but, elect representative to make laws
Definition of the constitution
Definition: A source (as an act) that grants lawmaking authority to parliament and the High Court
Lower House composition
151 seats, to secure government 76 seats are needed by a political party, to which their leader will form Prime minister, everyone loses seats after 3 years
Upper House composition
each state is entitled to 12 seats in the senate, Senators are elected for 6 year terms, territories have 2 seats each

Definition: the political party that has won an election
Define Hung parliament
a situation in which neither major party wins a majority seat in the Lower House
Define Bill
unapproved/drafted legislation
Define Cross Bench
Definition: Members of parliament who do not belong to major political parties. They are either independent or members of minor parties
