Causes of the Mexican revolution

A

Diaz had been president for a long time, exploitativ rule. Social and economic inequality persisted depite the casta system being illegal. Haciendas, people were poor. Meduro tried to run against him and he arrested him so he fled and that started the revolution

A

Diaz attempted to fix issues with economic reform like building railroads, only possible with foreign investment and dependent development though, the US wanted resources and access to Mexican markets so they invested heavily

Francisco Madero- Businessman who ran against Diaz in 1910
Heurta- led military coup and had Madero assasinated in 1913, then ruled as dictator, resigned in 1914
Emiliano Zapata- led revolutionary forces in South Mexico against Madero when land redistribution did not happen, desired land reform, fought against anyone who wouldnt have land discussion
Pancho Villa- fought on behald of Madero against Diaz gov in Northern parts of Mexico, wanted change that Madero promised and democracy
