Action: up rotate scapula, elevate scapula, add/retract scapula, ipsilateral lat flex cervical spine, contralateral flex spine

Origin: occipital bone and upper cervical C1-C3 spinous processes (SP)
Insertion: lateral clavicle
Action: upward rotate scapula, elevate scapula, adduct (add)/retract scapula, ipsilaterally and laterally flex cervical spine, contralaterally rotate cervical spine
Innervation: cranial nerve XI (accessory) and ventral rami C2-C4
