Population density Define
The average number of people in a given area, expressed as people per km2.
Urban Core Regions
The large urban areas around which a CMA or a CA is delineated.
Conurbations
An extended urban area, consisting of several towns merging with the suburbs of a central city.
Multiplier effect
A phenomenon whereby a given change in a particular input, such as government spending, causes a larger change in an output, such as gross domestic product.
Rural periphery
The countryside area that surrounds the urban core.
Define Foreign direct investment
Is an investment in the form of a controlling ownership in a business in 1 country by an entity based in another country.
Define Transnational Companies
Those which operate across more than 1 country.

The free flow of goods + services without the restriction of tariffs.

The transfer of a business from public to private ownership and control.
Define World City
A city that most nationalities work in and is responsible for global trade.
Define Deprivation
The lack of access to goods + services needed to live a good quality of life.
Define Ethnic Segregation
When people of a particular group chose to live with others from the same ethnic group.
